So Turtle Beach is on a roll lately. The new Xbox One line is looking great, and now they have Apple specific products. I was hopeful that they wouldn’t forget the core gamer and they didn’t let me down. A lot of gamers don’t have $300 laying around to drop on headphones. We usually spend somewhere between $50-100 to get something that’s “good enough” to do what we want. Turtle Beach targeted this market and hit a bull’s eye with the PX22. It’s not an entry level headset but it comes at a fairly entry level price. There are cheaper headsets out there for sure. I own a couple different ones myself including the Triton Halo 4 headset that retailed for $50. I also own the Turtle Beach Ear Force Tango (identical to the XP510) and love them. There is a big gap between these headsets and the PX22 is a good balance of both.
The only drawback to the PX22 is that it’s stereo only. For $79.99, I wouldn’t expect this to have Dolby Digital but I wanted to mention this for those concerned with multi-channel gaming. They are corded, and feature a well laid out amplifier with audio controls. You can adjust main volume, chat volume, and monitor volume (hearing yourself on the headset). One of my favorites are the Bass and Treble adjustments which help you fine tune the sound to your preference and the game you’re playing.

All in all, this get’s our stamp of approval. It looks good, it’s comfortable, sounds great, and helps you gain a competitive edge. At $79.99 how could you argue with that?
