Participants Compete for US$500,000 Grand Prize
Aiming to inspire ideas and fuel innovation that will evolve personal computing in exciting new ways, the challenge is open to the smartest and most creative minds in 27 countries. Awarding over US$1.3 million, Intel will recognize ideas for their potential to shift universal perspective and improve the world in a meaningful way.
WHAT: | The “Make It Wearable” challenge Development Track is now open and ready for participants to submit their proposals. As participants advance to semifinal and final rounds, they will receive extensive mentorship from industry luminaries. Ten finalists will receive US$50,000 and intensive mentoring to help get their ideas off the ground and attend the “Make It Wearable” final presentation and gala event. The grand prize winner will receive US$500,000. The second and third place winners will receive US$200,000 and US$100,000, respectively. Hundreds of ideas have been submitted for the Visionary Track, which will close in June, including a social environment monitor, clothes that use photosynthesis, an advanced health and fitness device and a jacketthat harnesses the power of the human body. |
HOW: | For the Development Track, participants must submit a proposal that includes business case details, including target users, value proposition, market differentiators and anticipated business hurdles, as well as a product pitch video. To submit a proposal, visit makeit.intel.com. |
WHO: | The Intel “Make It Wearable” challenge is open to anybody with ideas, including university and high school students, entrepreneurs, members of the maker community, engineers, technologists and visionary thinkers. Participants must be 13 years of age or older (except where prohibited) and have raised less than US$5 million in funding. |
WHEN: | The winner of the Development Track will be announced on Nov. 3, 2014. |
